THE MUSCADETTES
The Muscadettes are led by twin sisters Chantal and Kathleen Ambridge, hailing originally from California’s Silicon Valley, but raised in Montreal. Influenced by sixties surf music and 90’s grunge, the girls create an energetic rock, balanced out by sugary vocal harmonies only sisters could deliver. A night out in Montreal’s mythical underground bar, L’ESCO, led to a chance encounter with Joe Gagné (Les Breastfeeders) who joined the girls on lead guitar, followed by Thomas Augustin (Malajube) on keys. The Muscadettes released a limited-edition self-titled EP in late 2012, garnering excellent reviews from the local media. In 2013 the girls brought their schoolyard shouts and surf-soaked licks to Toronto’s NXNE and Quebec City’s OFF Festival, as well as touring throughout Quebec. Their debut full-length album was recorded by Ryan Battistuzzi (Malajube) at Montreal’s famed Breakglass Studio and mixed in Los Angeles by Lewis Pesacov (Best Coast/Fidlar), and is set to be released in early 2015.
